“783 million people in the world do not have access to safe water. This is roughly one in ten of the world’s population.” (WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) Report 2012 update)
We turn on a tap here and 9/10 the water that comes out is drinkable. Perhaps we don’t hear about it enough having very readily available access to water for consumption, hygiene and sanitation but as the fact above highlights, so many people around the world don’t.
On our cycle, water will be absolutely vital to us, not only doing the Death Valley crossing but every 15 minutes we’re supposed to drink to keep up hydration. Why shouldn’t everyone in the world have this luxury of drinking every 15 minutes if they want to?
WaterAid is a organisation which works around the world in 27 countries, setting up projects to improve safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene sustainably.
Since our ride across America is 3,415 miles, our goal is to raise £3,415. We appreciate any donations which will help us reach our goal!
